Andi Baso Tombong is an Assistant Professor with a strong academic background in nursing. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Hasanuddin University and a Master’s Degree in nursing from The University of Melbourne, Australia. He possesses emergency nursing care experience from his tenure at a nearby hospital. Moreover, he has held roles as both the outpatient and inpatient nurse manager for several years, actively participating in accreditation procedures and leading efforts to enhance quality and patient safety within the hospital. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he took charge of managing the hospital team, handling COVID-19 patients, and collaborating with various healthcare professionals, as well as working closely with the Department of Health and other entities at the regency and provincial levels.
Over the past five years, Andi has actively engaged in various research projects, including the Cross-Sectional COVID-19 Serosurveillance in Indonesia. The research project is a collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States, the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, University of Airlangga, and Hasanuddin University. He has also been involved in community service initiatives, focusing on patient safety education and healthcare awareness. His dedication to the field is evident through his publications and community/ social services.
Andi has received recognition for his contributions, such as being qualified as a National Question Writer of Indonesia Nurse Competence Examination and winning the Best Lecture Award from the Faculty of Nursing of Hasanuddin University in 2021.
