Students from the F.Kep Unhas Nursing Professional Study Program successfully participated in the Global Basic and Clinical Practice Exchange Program at Kanazawa University, Japan on (14-29/07) which had passed several selection stages and carried out Pre Departure Training some time ago.

Starting with a meeting between Japanese students and the participants, they then visited several places in Kanazawa City, Japan, including the 21st Century Contemporary Art Museum, Omicho Market, Oyama Jinja Shrine.

During the program, students carry out observations in various departments of Kanzawa University Hospital, namely, psychiatric ward, dialysis and chemotherapy ward, ICU, perioperative room, maternal ward, cardiovascular ward, and pediatric ward. Participants also visited Saisekai Kanazawa Hospital, where they explored the convalescent rehabilitation ward, the Ishikawa Prefectural Rehabilitation Center, and a simulation of a barrier-free home for the elderly and disabled and then visited a welfare equipment and tools store.

The Participants are also involved in community nursing for cancer patients at Genchan House, a certified NPO Company, and the meeting house “Haneume,” supported by the Ishikawa Government. Genchan House offers a place for cancer patients, their families and friends to consult, relax and participate in various positive activities. Haneume includes Kurumi Cafe, a place where medical professionals and parents collaborate to support children with cancer. The cafe organizes various programs, such as board games for children, creation of brochures on social resources for parents, Christmas events, and the International Day to Turn on the Lights for Children with Cancer.

With this program, it is hoped that students will gain extensive experience and observations for their perspectives and also contribute to improving the quality of the health system in Indonesia in the future.
