The Physiotherapy Study Program at the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, provides community service within the school environment. Community service is the implementation of the practice of science, technology and arts and culture directly in society institutionally through scientific methodology as the dissemination of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education as well as noble responsibilities in an effort to develop community capabilities, so that it can accelerate the rate of growth in achieving national development goals. One of the aims of the physiotherapy study program at the Faculty of Nursing is to disseminate knowledge related to physiotherapy to the community through community service activities in the form of professional services, and education through health education, on Friday (15\/12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this service activity, there were 30 elderly people at the Tamalanrea Community Health Center, Makassar City. Efforts to educate the elderly regarding preventing the risk of falls and musculoskeletal pain are through presentation methods. In carrying out the counseling, demonstrations were also carried out regarding how to apply ergonomics exercises, which are a form of exercises that are short, simple, and can be done regularly at certain times (breaks) at work or at home to prevent the risk of falls and musculoskeletal disorders. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity was carried out at the Tamalanrea Community Health Center, Makassar City on Friday, December 15 2023. This community service activity was preceded by giving a welcoming speech by the Head of the Physiotherapy Undergraduate Study Program, namely Andi Besse Ahsaniyah, S.Ft, Physio, M.Kes, and continued by giving welcoming words as well as the official opening of community service activities by the Deputy Dean for Partnership, Research & Innovation, Faculty of Nursing, Unhas, namely Dr. Takdir Tahir, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes. This activity was well received by the Head of the Tamalanrea Community Health Center and the elderly participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this series of activities, with the theme “Ergonomics for Elderly Safety”, there are ways to prevent bad posture through ergonomics exercise demonstrations, as well as posture screening through Functional Reach Test and Apley Scratch Test measurements as screening. The counseling was delivered by one of the lecturers at the Physiotherapy Study Program, Faculty of Nursing, Unhas, namely Hamisah, S.Ft, Physio, M.Biomed. Where, the material states that ergonomic exercises are designed to be used during work breaks, in the workplace (workstation area) and can help reduce feelings of discomfort in someone, especially the elderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This service aims to prevent the risk of falls and pain due to musculoskeletal disorders in the elderly, provide health education to the elderly, provide professional physiotherapy services and apply appropriate ergonomic techniques in carrying out daily activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
