Iida Taeko, OTR., MS from Seirei Chrystopher University, Japan, delivered a guest lecture at the Master of Nursing Program on the topic “Beyond Physical Recovery: The Role of Occupational Therapy” on Tuesday, December 9th, in the KP Room, Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, at 9:00 a.m. WITA. This activity aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the role of occupational therapy in a comprehensive healthcare approach.
In her presentation, Iida Taeko emphasized that occupational therapy focuses not only on restoring physical function but also on the psychological aspects of patients affected by illness. Occupational therapy plays a crucial role in addressing disorders that affect balance, physical ability, and daily activities, enabling patients to return to optimal function.
Furthermore, the speaker explained the importance of establishing meaningful activities for patients through an evaluation of their environment and daily routines before the illness. This approach allows for a gradual, targeted recovery process tailored to the individual patient’s needs, enabling more effective and sustainable rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
