The Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University (FKEP), held a Symposium: Stroke in Australia, in conjunction with a visit by a Professor from Monash University, Australia. The Symposium took place on Tuesday, June 30th, at the Prof. Dr. Latanro Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business, Hasanuddin University, attended by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University.
The symposium was opened by the Dean of FKEP, Prof. Dr. Elly Lilianty Sjattar, S.Kp., M.Kes., who expressed her appreciation for the event.
“This symposium is part of our efforts to strengthen international collaboration, particularly in research and community service. It also provides an opportunity to broaden our perspectives on the development of nursing science, particularly stroke care, globally,” she explained.
The event featured three speakers from Monash University, Australia, presenting on various topics: Professor Dominique Cadilhac (Topic: Background to Stroke and the National Program to Monitor Stroke Care in Australia), Dr. Tara Purvis, PhD., MSci., Physiotherapist (Topic: Data-Driven Quality Improvement in Hospitals: An Example from Stroke) and Andi Baso Tombong, M.ANP (Candidate PhD Student at Monash University) (Topic: Patient Safety Aspect for Cardiovascular and Stroke Care in Australia: Lessons Learned from a PhD Study).
In their presentations, the speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening stroke prevention and treatment through the application of evidence-based practice, the development of specific programs tailored to the characteristics of each country, and improving service quality through quality improvement.
Furthermore, they highlighted the strategic role of data collection as a basis for monitoring and evaluating services, stakeholder involvement, and the contribution of advanced practice nurses in providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to improve health outcomes for stroke survivors.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, remains committed to developing scientific knowledge through international academic forums. This is expected to be a strategic step in encouraging innovation and collaboration to improve the quality of nursing education, particularly healthcare services in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
