A lecturer from the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University, Dr. Andina Setyawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., a Medical-Surgical Nursing expert, and Dr. Nuurhidayat Jafar, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. (Community Nursing) and Insany Fitri Nurqamar, SE., MM (Management and Digital Marketing Expert from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Hasanuddin University), conducted a community service activity on July 11, 2026, in Garuntungan Village, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency. This activity involved the PKK Women’s Group of the Garuntungan Village Government, as well as a multidisciplinary team from Hasanuddin University, chaired by, in an effort to increase public knowledge in diabetes prevention through the use of Piper crocatum (Red Betel) plants to produce functional cookies that have both health and economic value.
In her remarks, Dr. Andina Setyawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. stated that this activity was the implementation of research findings, developed into innovations that could be directly utilized by the community. Participants received education on diabetes prevention and healthy lifestyles, as well as training in making functional cookies based on Piper crocatum. Furthermore, participants were equipped with knowledge on business management and product marketing strategies to encourage the development of sustainable local potential. The Garuntungan Village Government also expressed its appreciation for this activity, as it was deemed to have increased community knowledge and opened up business opportunities for the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) women’s group.
Through this activity, it is hoped that the Garuntungan Village PKK women’s group will be able to apply the knowledge gained to support diabetes prevention and develop local potential into functional food products with added value. This activity demonstrates the commitment of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, to implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education through community service based on research, innovation, and community empowerment to improve the quality of public health and well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
