The Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University (FKep Unhas) successfully hosted a Visiting Lecturer session on Wednesday (September 23) at the Unhas LPPM Hall, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar. The event featured two visiting lecturers from Japan: Miho Shogenji, Ph.D., RN (Kanazawa University) and Prof. Yoko Aihara, Ph.D. (Okayama University). Centered on the theme “Global Perspectives on Integrated Nursing Care for Older and Vulnerable Populations: Continence Management, Dementia Support, and Emergency Triage,” this event was part of the Global Health & Nursing Summer Program 2026, which runs from September 21 to October 19, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FKep Unhas, Syahrul Said, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., Ph.D. In his remarks, he expressed his delight and great enthusiasm regarding the arrival of the exchange participants. He noted that while FKep Unhas frequently organizes public lectures, this occasion was particularly special as it featured two guest lecturers simultaneously from renowned Japanese universities. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Global Health & Nursing Summer Program is a flagship initiative of the faculty, conducted in collaboration with partner universities; FKep Unhas has previously sent students to participate in similar programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participant enthusiasm was high, evidenced by the Unhas LPPM Hall being filled with 180 attendees, comprising students ranging from the undergraduate level to the Nursing and Physiotherapy professional programs. Moderated by Mulhaeriah, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., the session provided an in-depth exploration of three strategic topics: “Continence Care in Japan” by Miho Shogenji, Ph.D., RN; and “Universal Health Coverage and Digital Health” by Prof. Yoko Aihara, Ph.D. \u2026as well as Emergency Triage for Vulnerable Populations: A Focus on Older Adults<\/em> by Mohammad Syafar Sangkala, S.Kep., Ns., MANP (Lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing, Unhas).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this space for collaboration and interactive discussion, the Faculty of Nursing at Unhas reaffirms its commitment to broadening global nursing perspectives, strengthening international academic networks, and providing valuable cross-cultural learning experiences for the entire academic community.
