Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University and Hanze University Strengthen Academic Synergy

The Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University (F.Kep Unhas) held a meeting at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, the Netherlands, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The meeting was attended by Dominiscus Kamsma, Dean of Cluster Healthcare at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, the Netherlands; Syahrul, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at F.Kep Unhas; and Andi Masyitha Irwan, S.Kep., Ns., MANP., Ph.D., Head of the International Affairs Office at Unhas, who is also a lecturer at F.Kep Unhas. The meeting was also attended by several lecturers from Hanze University of Applied Sciences, including Judith Pellicaan, Sanne Heinen, and Hinke van der Werf.

The meeting discussed strengthening and expanding the long-term collaboration between the two institutions. Several agreed-upon collaborative programs included the continuation of student exchange programs and the development of joint research initiatives involving lecturers from both universities. During the visit, the Unhas delegation also met with the Hanze International Office Team, Jan Henny Zijlstra and Lydia Altenburg, to discuss plans to enhance collaboration through capacity-building and professional development programs for lecturers and students.

Specific attention was paid to future collaboration in the areas of Planetary Health and nursing curriculum development. These initiatives demonstrate the commitment of both institutions to addressing global health challenges and improving the quality of nursing education.

The Faculty of Nursing at Unhas and Hanze University Groningen have established a strong and active collaboration since 2018. Through this collaboration, Hanze students regularly participate in academic programs at the UNHAS Faculty of Nursing, spending a semester in Makassar as part of their international exchange experience.

Furthermore, Unhas nursing lecturers and students participate in various teaching, learning, and exchange programs with Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, further strengthening the academic relationship between the two institutions and opening up more international learning opportunities. The meeting also affirmed the commitment of both universities to continue expanding cooperation through academic program development, collaborative research, curriculum development, and increasing professional capacity and competence in the fields of nursing and health sciences.
