Dr. Andina Setyawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., a lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University, led the 2026 Indonesian Collaborative Community Service (PMKI) activity, held on July 10, 2026, in Sapanang Village, Binamu District, Jeneponto Regency. This activity was a collaboration between Hasanuddin University and the Open University, involving the Sapanang Village Government, the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) women’s group, and micro-entrepreneurs. Through this activity, the community service team introduced an innovative way to process Gynura procumbens (Sambung Nyawa) into functional cookies as an effort to support public health improvement and women’s economic empowerment.
In her remarks, Dr. Andina Setyawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. stated that the strategic collaboration between Hasanuddin University and the Open University (Universitas Terbuka) is designed to address national health challenges while simultaneously promoting women’s financial independence at the village level through the development of functional cookies based on Sambung Nyawa leaves. This will not only educate the community on preventing non-communicable diseases but also provide them with the opportunity to develop innovative products with competitive selling value.
Furthermore, participants received education on healthy lifestyles and diabetes mellitus prevention, as well as training in processing cookies using Sambung Nyawa. In addition to production training, participants were also provided with knowledge on business management and marketing strategies to encourage the development of competitive local products. The collaboration with the Open University also strengthened the implementation of the program through support in community empowerment and entrepreneurship development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity is expected to enhance the knowledge of the Sapanang Village community, particularly the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) members and local entrepreneurs, facilitated by ST Umrah Hjs, S.Kep., Ns., regarding healthy lifestyles and developing skills in processing local potential into value-added products. This activity also demonstrates the commitment of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, to carry out community service through innovation, collaboration, and empowerment that provide real benefits for improving the quality of health and community welfare.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
