Description
Rijal is an accomplished academic and clinician in the field of physical therapy with extensive international experience in teaching, research, and professional practice. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor (Lector) in the Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Indonesia, while also leading professional initiatives as the Owner of KinePhysio Institute and Founder of EXERT (Exercise Research Team). His academic journey reflects a strong multidisciplinary foundation, having earned a Ph.D. in Orthopedic and Sport Physical Therapy from National Taiwan University, a Master of Science in International Public Health from Griffith University, Australia, and a Master’s degree in Biomedicine from Hasanuddin University. His professional experiences also include teaching and clinical appointments at National Taiwan University and National Taiwan University Hospital, where he contributed to anatomy, kinesiology, manual therapy, kinesiotaping, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation programs.
His research expertise centers on musculoskeletal physical therapy, particularly rounded shoulder posture, shoulder biomechanics, ultrasonography imaging, kinesio taping, and exercise science. He has produced numerous scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals, covering topics such as scapular stabilization, musculoskeletal morphology, adolescent fitness, stroke rehabilitation, and ergonomic health issues. In addition, he has been actively involved in competitive research grants funded by national and international bodies, including LPDP, RISPRO, BIMA, and the Indonesian Ministry of Research. His academic excellence has been recognized through multiple prestigious awards, including the Australian Awards Scholarship, LPDP Scholarship, best presentation awards in international congresses, and merit awards for doctoral academic performance in Taiwan. These achievements demonstrate his strong commitment to advancing evidence-based physiotherapy practice, research innovation, and global academic collaboration.
