Unhas Faculty of Nursing Student Village Development Supports SDGs through the Healthy Village Program at the Peak of Maros

Nursing students from the Faculty of Nursing (F.Kep) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held the 2026 Student Village Development program. The event, involving 40 participants, took place in Pucak Village, Maros Regency, from Friday to Saturday (April 24-25). The theme of this community service program was “The Spirit of Butta Salewangang Community Service: Mobilizing Knowledge, Making Pucak Village Healthy,” and focused on preventive and promotive efforts to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 3, namely Good Health and Well-Being.

This activity lasted for 2 days, with the first day being the initial departure and preparation of activities at the location, the second day was the day of the activity attended by accompanying lecturer Akbar Harisa, S.Kep., Ns., PMNC., MN who also opened the event representing the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, Akbar Harisa, S.Kep., Ns., PMNC., MN, also Yery Mustari, S.Ft., Physio, M.ClinRehab., C.MTP. The alumni brothers as speakers were Muh.Yusuf, S.Kep., Ns., for gastritis material and Miko Prasetyo, S.Kep., Ns. for ISPA material. As well as the Head of Pucak Village, Abdul Razak, the Head of the Health Center Hj Yuyun, S.Kep., Ns, community leaders, and local residents. In his remarks, the event’s supervising lecturer, Akbar Harisa S.Kep., Ns., PMNC., MN., stated that the 2026 Student Village Development Program (Bina Desa Kemahasiswaan 2026) embodies Unhas’ implementation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education), particularly in terms of community service. He also emphasized Unhas’ commitment to acting as a catalyst in supporting the achievement of the SDGs. “This activity is routinely held twice a year and is directly facilitated by Unhas,” Akbar added.
Furthermore, the Head of the Tompobulu Community Health Center, Hj Yuyun, S.Kep., Ns., also appreciated the focus of the outreach program, which focused on Acute Respiratory Tract Infections (ARI) and gastritis. He revealed that these two diseases have been the health problems with the highest incidence rates in recent years, based on data recorded in the Tombopulu Community Health Center’s work area.
Furthermore, the Head of Pucak Village, Abdul Razak, welcomed the organizing committee and expressed his full support for the activity. He explained that health checks, especially for the elderly, can be a means of monitoring and evaluating the community’s health condition. “If any health conditions are identified that require further attention, we can immediately collect data and follow up on those who need treatment,” he said.
In closing, the Committee Chair, Muh. Riyadh Akhsan, expressed his hope that this activity would have a tangible impact in encouraging and initiating improvements in public health literacy, while also strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and rural communities.
