Internal Reviewer Training for ICON Journal Unhas 2026 Held at Vasaka Hotel Makassar

Makassar, May 8, 2026 — The Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University organized the ICON Journal Internal Reviewer Training 2026 at Vasaka Hotel Makassar on Thursday (08/05/2026). The event was attended by lecturers and journal managers as part of efforts to enhance the capacity of internal reviewers in supporting the improvement of scientific publication quality within the university.

The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Elly Lilianty Sjattar, S.Kp., M.Kes., in her remarks while officially opening the event, expressed her hope that all participants would become competent reviewers to support the preparation for national journal accreditation and improve the journal’s reputation toward international indexing.

“We hope that all participants can become reviewers in preparation for national accreditation and help our journal achieve Scopus indexing,” she stated.

On the same occasion, the Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni Affairs of the Faculty of Nursing Hasanuddin University, Dr. Takdir Tahir, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., emphasized the importance of leadership support in the development of ICON Journal. He explained that ICON Journal is currently undergoing the Scopus evaluation process, requiring strong collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders.

“Support from the leadership is very important in the ICON Journal process, especially as it is currently under Scopus evaluation,” he said.

The training featured Dr. Erfina, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., who is also the Editor in Chief of ICON Journal, as the keynote speaker. She delivered a presentation titled Step by Step Guide to Reviewing a Manuscript. In her session, Dr. Erfina explained in detail the stages of the manuscript review process, beginning from receiving an invitation email from the editor to determining whether a manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.

She also highlighted the importance of objectivity, accuracy, and ethics in conducting manuscript reviews to maintain the quality of scientific publications.

Through this training, it is expected that internal reviewers will strengthen their professional reviewing competencies and contribute to improving the quality of Hasanuddin University’s scientific journals toward national and international standards.
