Nursing Students Participate in Student Exchange Program between Hasanuddin University and Okayama University, Japan

The visit of Prof. Toshihiro Iguchi from Okayama University, Japan, and eight other student delegates to the Faculty of Kep Unhas on August 26th in the Faculty of Kep Senate Room as part of the Student Exchange program, which is an implementation of the collaboration between the Faculty of Kep and Okayama University.
The event was welcomed by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs (Syahrul, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., Ph.D.), the Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni (Dr. Takdir Tahir, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes.), the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry (Drg. Irfan Sugianto, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D.), and lecturers from the Faculty of Kep.
This program involved two Faculty of Kep students and several other health students from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Faculty of Public Health. The exchange program, which has been running online since July 2025, concluded with student presentations on Tuesday (August 26th) in the Master’s Lecture Room of the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University.
Four groups presented the results of their discussions on the differences in culture, lifestyle, and education systems between Indonesia and Japan. Each group consisted of two students from Hasanuddin University and two students from Okayama University.
In his remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs (Syahrul, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., Ph.D.) stated that, “This activity is an excellent program because it brings together health students from various disciplines, which will be crucial for interprofessional collaboration in the healthcare setting in the future.”
With the implementation of this program, collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University, and Okayama University will continue to grow. Meanwhile, Prof. Toshihiro Iguchi, from Okayama University, expressed his hope that there will be opportunities for collaborative research to maintain stronger synergy between the two institutions.
In addition, this program is also in line with Unhas’ Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and also strengthens Unhas’ reputation in achieving SDGs towards becoming a World Class University.
