The Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University (FKep Unhas) officially launched the first batch of the CATALYST (Cascading Academic Training for Academics, Young Scholars, and Learning Sustainability) training program for 2026 on Friday (October 2, 2026) at the FKep Unhas Senate Room. Held from October 2 to 4, this event represents a strategic initiative by the faculty to enhance the capabilities of both students and academic supervisors in evidence-based research and scientific literature synthesis.
This intensive training program was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Partnerships, Research, Innovation, and Alumni Affairs at FKep Unhas, Takdir Tahir, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes. Faculty leadership and the event’s organizing committee chair, Dr. Erfina, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., were also in attendance. In his remarks, the faculty representative emphasized the importance of accelerating research capabilities within the academic environment. The training is designed to equip thesis supervisors and students from the Translational Research Group (TRG) with the skills to identify research gaps, master literature search strategies, and utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and modern analysis tools in an ethical and structured manner.

FKep Unhas invited Prof. Ir. Andi Dirpan, S.TP., M.Si., Ph.D., from the Unhas Directorate of Publication Management, to serve as the keynote speaker, supported by a team of experienced facilitators. During the workshop, the 34 participants received not only conceptual grounding in narrative reviews and academic policies but also engaged in hands-on practical exercises. With access to AI-assisted platforms such as Elicit Pro, participants were trained in tasks ranging from data extraction and network analysis using VOSviewer to interactive data visualization via Tableau. Through the CATALYST training program, FKep Unhas demonstrates its commitment to not only increasing research output but also prioritizing rigorous scientific methodology. The training aims to produce concrete outcomes—specifically, initial drafts of narrative review and bibliometric manuscripts—ready for submission to reputable international journals. Moving forward, FKep Unhas remains dedicated to cultivating young researchers who are critical thinkers, adaptable to global advancements in research technology, and capable of producing high-quality scholarly work that advances the fields of nursing and healthcare.
