Through a Web Application and Youth Organization Empowerment, the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, Holds a Pre-Diabetes Prevention Movement in Bulukumba

The Hasanuddin University Community Service Team conducted a community service activity on July 11, 2026, at the Garuntungan Village Hall, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency. Led by Dr. Nuurhidayat Jafar, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., and his team, the activity was attended by 20 administrators of the Tunas Bakti Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) and youth from Garuntungan Village. The activity aimed to increase youth knowledge and awareness of adopting a healthy lifestyle through the use of digital technology as a preventative measure for pre-diabetes.
In his remarks, Dr. Nuurhidayat Jafar, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., stated that adolescents are a vulnerable group at risk of pre-diabetes due to unhealthy lifestyle changes. Therefore, the use of digital technology is expected to be an effective educational tool to support healthy lifestyle changes while strengthening the role of Karang Taruna as an agent of change in increasing health awareness within the community. This activity also received appreciation from the Garuntungan Village Government for its collaboration with the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Nursing in presenting technology-based health innovations to the community.
This activity is expected to utilize digital technology to improve adolescent health literacy while encouraging the active role of Karang Taruna (Youth Organization) in promoting and preventing non-communicable diseases, particularly pre-diabetes. This activity also represents the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Nursing’s commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through innovative, applicable community service programs oriented toward improving public health.
