Silvia Malasari (Silvi) has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in various nursing roles. Currently, she acts as a Chairperson of the Indonesian Gerontic Nurses Association-Province of South Sulawesi and is also a member of the Indonesian National Nurses Association. Additionally, she played a role as an Editor in Chief of Indonesian Contemporary Nursing Journal (ICON Journal) for six years.

Silvi expertise with more than ten years of experience in nursing and education field, focuses on gerontology, family, and community nursing. These areas also drive her interest in contributing to the advancement of gerontic nursing science and practice by serving as a workshop facilitator and speaker, delivering training sessions to professionals in the field. She has been involved as item reviewer of the Indonesian National Nurse Examination, where in this role she is entrusted with the responsibility of developing and reviewing the making of question’s exam in gerontological nursing.

Her contribution to the field is also evident through her publication of numerous articles, paper conferences, and books related to her expertise. These past three years, she actively participated as a core member in a project to improve educational skills in basic nursing programs, with a particular focus on elderly people, in collaboration between Indonesia and Japan. Silvi presented the activity and the results of the Project at the International Council of Nurses Congress in Dubai, virtually in 2021, about “Enhancement of Teaching Skills in Gerontic Nursing Practicum Using Online, Offline, and Blended Methods: Report on a Project in Indonesia and Japan”. Silvi and the team also published their project with the title “Japan-Indonesia Gerontic Nursing Project: Enhancement of Educational Skills in Nursing Practice (Part III): Developing VR Material of Ambulation Procedure in Hospital Geriatric Base” in the 7th International Nursing Research Conference of the World Academy of Nursing Science in Taipei.
