History of the Study Program Development

The curriculum for the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program (Sp.KMB) was developed based on the institution’s vision and input from all stakeholders, including the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI), alumni, alumni users, and partners. The curriculum development was also based on input from the Indonesian Medical-Surgical Nursing College during the preparatory meeting for the opening of the KMB Specialist Study Program at Hasanuddin University in January 2021. The results of a comparative study with similar study programs in Indonesia (UI, UNAIR, and UMJ). These comparative study results informed the development of the first curriculum for the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University. Several similar Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist study programs at both domestic and international universities focus on specialized Medical-Surgical nursing care based on evidence-based practice. However, the excellence of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program at Hasanuddin University focuses on cardiovascular nursing, integumentary nursing, neurology nursing, urinary tract nursing, and tropical disease nursing, distinguishing it from other similar study programs.
