On October 19 2023, a number of lecturers and students from the Nursing Study Program, Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University carried out Community Service activities (pengabmas) in the Outpatient area (polyclinic) of Hasanuddin University Hospital. This community service activity carries the theme Gema Cermat Education: Smart Community Movement Using Medicine in collaboration with the PKRS (Hospital Health Promotion) Installation.
This activity is based on the widespread use of drugs freely and inappropriately, without accurate and adequate information, which can cause new health problems. For this reason, the lecturers present provided counseling including Dr. Yuliana Syam, S.Kep., Ns., M.Si, Prof. Dr. Elly L. Sjattar, S.Kp., M.Kes., Andi Baso Tombong, S.Kep., Ns., M.ANP., Arnis Puspitha R, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes., and Abdul Majid, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.MB. This community service activity was also assisted by several nurses at Unhas Hospital and three students.
The educational material provided in this counseling includes how to pay attention to the information on medicine packaging, use antibiotics wisely, types of drug classes, and how to use drugs correctly. Visitors to the Unhas Hospital polyclinic seemed enthusiastic about listening to the counseling and during the evaluation were seen to be able to repeat information related to drug use.
