- Improving the quality of nursing education through an integrated and competency-based education system utilizing health professionals and accountable management

- Care Provider: Nursing graduates are able to provide professional nursing care for individuals, families, group of individuals and communities within health and sickness range of clinical, family and community practices to meet human basic needs through comprehensive, holistic and evidence-based approaches
- Manager and Leader: Nursing graduates act as managers and leaders in nursing care and services that ensure patient safety, and continuous evaluation of nursing care and services.

Program Structure and Content |
The program comprises of 182 of semester credit points, in which the implementation is divided into two degrees; bachelor nurse and professional nurse program. The bachelor nurse is pursued in 7 (eight) semesters for 4 (four) years consisting 48 subjects with 146 of credit points. 1st year of study provides a foundation skills and knowledge of nursing theories and practice for the further study of the program. 2nd and 3rd year of study offers the essential of theoretical and practical of nursing care. 4th year of study mainly provides student community services, and application of research skills. The professional nurse program is pursued in 2 (two) semesters for a year consisting 14 subjects with 36 of credit points. During the 4th and 5th year, students will comprehensively perform clinical practice of nursing care in both, hospital and community settings. |
Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Strategies |
Throughout 1st to 4th year of study, students will have a balanced mixture of classroom-based, and clinical laboratory-based study, and early exposure in clinical setting. Professional nurse stage in the 4th and 5th year of study applies modified preceptorship model. A diverse range of teaching methods are used for different learning outcome and context, and none of the subjects is taught using only one method of learning. The following methods are applied: seminar, case-study, role play, small group discussion, think-pair-share, collaborative learning, workshop, lecture, project-based learning, demonstration, case reflection discussion, collaborative learning, problem- based learning, clinical skill practice, and field-work study. Learning is assessed by oral presentation, participation in class, submission of written work in a variety of types, portfolio, essay, oral test, supervision, objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), task performance, MCQ exam, comprehensive test, direct observation of procedural skill (DOPS), student report, observation of group, observation of group and individual process on practical projects. |

Drop-Out Rules | Drop-out rules are based on the Decree by Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin (number 1870/H04/2009). Students are declared to drop out of study: 1. Resigned on his/her own. 2. Academic reason: 3. Student whom at the end of the fourth semester does not achieve a minimum GPA of = 2.00 calculated from at least 48 credits that have been accomplished, 4. Have not completed the study at the end of the 14th semester. This program consists of 182 credit hours, which are divided into 2 parts: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (S.Kep) and Professional Nurse (Ners).
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (S.Kep) program is completed in 7 (seven) semesters over 3 (three) years and 6 (six) months, comprising 48 courses with 146 credit hours. The first year of study provides skills related to behavioral social science and nursing ethics. The second year of the program offers basic biomedical and nursing sciences. The third year of study provides comprehensive clinical and nursing skills in laboratories, family and community services, and the application of research skills.
The Professional Nurse (Ners) program is completed in 2 (two) semesters over one year, consisting of 14 courses with 36 credit hours. During the fourth and fifth years, students will acquire clinical and professional nursing skills through comprehensive nursing practice in both hospitals and health centers.
