The Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, held a Patent Application Description Writing Training Webinar. The webinar, organized by the Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni through the Publication Management Unit (PMU) of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, featured Dr. Ir. Zulkarnaim, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM, Head of the Sub-Directorate for Innovation and Intellectual Property Development, as a resource person. Participants from various institutions attended the webinar on Tuesday (October 7th) via Zoom.
This activity aims to improve researchers’ skills in writing patent application descriptions. The Vice Dean for Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Alumni, Dr. Takdir Tahir, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes, fully supports this activity to enhance the capabilities of lecturers, students, and practitioners.
In his remarks, he stated that “the potential possessed by various work units can be effectively disseminated through this activity, enabling us to improve intellectual property writing, particularly in the areas of patents and simple patents.”
In his presentation, Dr. Ir. Zulkarnaim, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM, emphasized that the patent application description plays a crucial role in the patent application process and the importance of accuracy and clarity in the patent application process to ensure optimal protection for proposed ideas and innovations.
He also explained the patent requirements or patentability elements, namely, Novelty as an absolute requirement, Inventive Step, and Industrial Applicability. He also presented steps and tips for preparing patent specifications.
All participants are expected to participate in the activities and mentoring so they can strive to generate ideas and innovations that meet the needs of healthcare settings for lecturers, students, and practitioners, and improve their ability to write patent descriptions in accordance with applicable regulations.
