Ten students and one accompanying lecturer from the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), participated in the Sakura Science Exchange Program organized by Yokohama City University (YCU), Japan, from January 13-19, 2026. This international program was designed to enhance students’ global competencies and strengthen institutional collaboration in nursing education and research between Hasanuddin University and Yokohama City University.
Themed “A Learning Exchange Program: Seeing and Experiencing Advanced Nursing Practice and Research Collaboration in Japan’s Tele-ICU,” the program consisted of a series of joint lectures, structured academic discussions, and scientific exchanges focused on advanced nursing practice in Japan and Indonesia.
The program included a visit by academic delegates to Yokohama City University Hospital, which provided participants with the opportunity to observe clinical nursing practice, including peri-anesthesia care and operating room services.
In addition, delegates were introduced to the Tele-ICU system and other nursing technologies, and engaged in research sharing sessions and academic discussions addressing current issues and future directions in nursing research. Collaborative group work and presentations with YCU students further facilitate cross-cultural academic interaction and knowledge exchange.
Through participation in the Sakura Science Program, the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, aims to expand its international academic network, enhance the quality of nursing education, and promote continued collaboration in nursing education and research with Yokohama City University.
