On Tuesday (27/06) at the Unhas Hotel and Convention at 16.00 WITA, the Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration held the opening of Community Health Cadres (CHC) Basic Training for refugees in Makassar and under the auspices of IOM. The activity was officially opened by the Secretary of Hasanuddin University (Prof. Ir. Donation of Steel, M.Phil., Ph.D) who was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing (Prof. Dr. Ariyanti Saleh, S.Kp., M.Sc), The Deputy Deans, Lecturers, and Refugees were 37 participants.

This activity aims to increase knowledge and skills in the health community, namely caring for patients, psychosocial support, and mutually supporting fellow refugees and providing experiences for them.
The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing (Prof. Dr. Ariyanti Saleh, S.Kp., M.Sc) provided a forum for refugees in Makassar to provide nursing-related training, in his remarks “To open up opportunities to increase the number of collaborations with international organizations, one of which is Social and Research activities. The Faculty of Nursing and Hasanuddin University are very supportive of basic public health training activities for refugees in Makassar, for this reason the Faculty of Nursing will become a place for them to participate in this health training,” explained Prof. Ariyanti (27/06).

Prof. Ir. Donation Baja, M.Phil.,Ph.D (Secretary of Hasanuddin University) also provided support for this training activity and the collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing and the International Organization for Migration is a good thing in terms of caring for the surrounding community. In his remarks “One of Hasanuddin University’s mission points is Humaniversity, which is one of the representatives as a form of Unhas’ concern for the surrounding community and the community. The Faculty of Nursing is one of the right places to collaborate in conducting basic nursing training, as in its duties, namely caring for society, mental health, and emergency response situations,” explained Prof. Donations (27/06).

The leadership of the Faculty of Nursing and Hasanuddin University hopes that with this training the refugees can gain experience and skills about nursing so that they can be applied in the surrounding community. The activity continued with the signing of the minutes and giving donations from IOM to the Faculty of Nursing until it ended at 18.00 WITA which was guided by the MC of the Faculty of Nursing Lecturer at Hasanuddin University Silvia Malasari, S.Kep., Ns., MN (27/06)
