Guest Lecture by a Lecturer from the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, at Okayama University, Japan

Nurhaya Nurdin, S.Kep., Ns., MN., MPH, a lecturer from the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University, was a delegate to a program at Okayama University, Japan, along with two students from the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University, from December 15–19, 2025. This activity was a collaboration between the Faculties of Health, including the Faculties of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health, as an effort to strengthen international networks and improve the quality of global-based learning.
As part of this program, Nurhaya Nurdin, S.Kep., Ns., MN., MPH, a lecturer from the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University, delivered a guest lecture on “The Heart of Community Care: Nurses, Service, and Empowerment in Indonesia,” attended by approximately 50 Okayama University students. This lecture provided a platform for sharing perspectives on community nursing practice in Indonesia and the strategic role of nurses in community service and empowerment.
In their presentations, the speakers shared inspiring stories about community nursing practice in Indonesia, including a screening of a documentary about Sister Rabiah, “The Floating Nurse” from Sulawesi, which illustrates the dedication of nurses in reaching communities in remote areas. The Q&A session was interactive and enthusiastic, reflecting the warm exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of academic ties between Hasanuddin University and Okayama University.
As part of the ongoing collaboration, Okayama University lecturer, Prof. Yoko Aihara, previously conducted a Visiting Lecture at the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, in October 2025. This affirmed the commitment of both institutions to building sustainable and mutually reinforcing academic collaboration.
