The Physiotherapy Program, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, hosted a guest lecture by Hiroki Yabe, RPT., Ph.D., from Seirei Christopher University, Japan, on the topic “The Importance of Multidisciplinary Team Care (MTC), Including Rehabilitation.” The event took place on Monday, December 8th, at the OSCE Building of the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, and was attended by undergraduate physiotherapy students.
This event aimed to broaden students’ understanding of the importance of a multidisciplinary team care approach, including the role of rehabilitation, as a key strategy for comprehensively improving the quality of healthcare services.
Through collaboration between healthcare professionals, MTC provides the opportunity to professionally manage patients according to their needs. This event demonstrated the importance of synergy between healthcare professionals, particularly physiotherapists and nurses, in providing care.
The discussion provided students with an understanding of the strategic role of physiotherapy within a multidisciplinary team, particularly in supporting the rehabilitation and functional recovery process. It is hoped that this will strengthen the competency of undergraduate physiotherapy students in implementing collaborative practices and enhance their readiness to face future healthcare challenges.
