Students from the Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University (F.Kep Unhas) have once again achieved a proud milestone on the international stage. Nursyafira Zahra, a student in the Nursing Science Study Program at F.Kep Unhas, won the Bootcamp Winner’s Prize (1st Place) at the AI × MedTech Asia Innovation Challenge 2026, held at Fujita Health University and Station AI in Japan from July 26 to August 6.
Zahra participated in this international event, which brought together students from diverse countries and academic backgrounds to develop health innovations utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Medical Technology (MedTech). During the bootcamp, she and her team successfully developed a health innovation prototype focused on the early detection of mastitis in breastfeeding mothers, ultimately securing the Bootcamp Winner’s Prize (1st Place). This award was the top honor at the AI × MedTech Asia Innovation Challenge 2026, and Zahra’s team was the sole recipient of the prize.
This success demonstrates that F.Kep Unhas students possess the capacity to compete and contribute to the development of health innovations at an international level. Driven by the spirit of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being)—specifically regarding innovations for maternal health and mastitis prevention—students are able to develop ideas that are relevant to healthcare needs.
Participation in this program not only broadened horizons and experience but also strengthened international collaborative networks and enhanced the students’ ability to generate innovative solutions that integrate technology with real-world healthcare needs. It is hoped that this achievement will inspire other students to continue developing their competencies, innovate boldly, and actively participate in various academic and innovation events on the international stage.
