The Faculty of Nursing at Hasanuddin University held community service with the theme “Nomophobia Education and Counseling in Controlling Adolescents’ Self as Prevention of Gadget Addiction at SMA Negeri 21 Makassar”. This activity took place at 10.00 – 12.00 WITA offline in the hall of SMA Negeri 21 Makassar on Tuesday, March 5 2024. This activity was attended by approximately 200 students (i) grades 10 and 11 as well as several teachers of SMA Negeri 21 Makassar. This activity was opened directly by Lajama S.Pd., M.M as Deputy Principal for Student Affairs.
This activity was initiated by the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Nursing team, namely Dr. Kadek Ayu Erika, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes. as head of the community service team; and members including; Nur Fadilah, S.Kep, Ns., MN., Dr. Suni Hariati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep, Prof. Dr. Ariyanti Saleh, S.Kp., M.Si, and Arnis Puspitha R, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes in collaboration with Istiana Tajuddin, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist from the Faculty of Medicine, Psychology Study Program Unhas, as well as supporting students from the Faculty of Nursing, Unhas.

In this activity, Dr. Kadek Ayu Erika, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes presented material about No mobile phone (Nomophobia), namely students at SMA Negeri 21 Makassar were taught about the meaning, characteristics of nomophobia, levels, impacts and ways to prevent nomophobia. Excerpt from material presented by Dr. Kadek Ayu Erika said, “How to prevent Nomophobia starts with small things, for example not using your cell phone at lunch, keeping yourself away from your cell phone at night, and doing useful activities, for example by taking time to do hobbies such as exercising, writing and read”
Before carrying out the material delivery session, this activity was opened by completing a pre-test by participants to measure knowledge and screen the level of nomophobia and self-control of teenagers. After delivering the material, participants are asked to fill in the knowledge post test link. Furthermore, the results of screening for high nomophobia tendencies in teenagers will be followed by counseling.

At the end of the activity, Dr. Kadek handed over a plaque and souvenir to Mrs. Andi Ernawati, S.Pd., M.Pd., P.hD as the Principal of the School. There is great hope that through Nomophobia education this can be a step in preventing gadget addiction in teenagers, especially at SMA Negeri 21 Makassar.
