The Nursing Science Student Association of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University (Himika F.Kep Unhas) held a Himika Dedication or Himika Mengabdi Student Village Development activity. This activity carries the theme Realizing Humanitarian Values and Integrity of Service in Realizing a Healthy Gattareng Community, located in Gattareng Village, Pujananting District, Barru Regency, Saturday (12/10/2024).
This activity is part of the community service program that is routinely carried out by Himika every semester. The Head of the Pujananting Health Center, namely dr. Wilmayanti, S.Ked. inaugurated the opening of the event. This activity was attended by accompanying lecturers Akbar Harisa, S.Kep., Ns., PMNC., MN and Nurlaila Fitriani, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.J, alumni as speakers, namely Suci Reviani, S.Kep., Ns. And Nur Rahma, S.Kep., Ns. And Village Head A. Syahrir, Local residents, Students of UPTD SMPN 29 Barru, Teachers and School Staff, and the village development team of Students from the Faculty of Nursing, Nursing Science Study Program, Hasanuddin University.
The supervisor of the organization Himika F.Kep Unhas, Akbar, Harisa, S.Kep., Ns., PMNC., MN, in his speech said that this activity received full support from both the Faculty and the University. “We would like to thank the residents of Gattareng Village for the warm welcome given,” said Akbar.
This Village Development activity includes several programs, including the health material on Stress Management presented by Ns. Nurlaila Fitriani., S.Kep., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.J Penkes, Basic Life Support (BLS) simulation for the community presented by Suci Reviani, S.Kep., Ns and Nur Rahma, S.Kep., Ns, Penkes Sex Education for school children presented by Akbar Harisa, S.Kep., Ns., PMNC., MN, and free health checks by a team of nursing students from Hasanuddin University. Akbar explained that before the implementation, the organizing committee had conducted checks and coordination with the village, school, and local health center “We will conduct screening to identify health problems of residents and will report them to the relevant parties for follow-up,” added Akbar. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the faculty, village government, health center, and local community in making this activity a success. Furthermore, Akbar revealed that Fkep Unhas has plans to develop the Village Development program into a Fostered Village. “If realized, we will establish cooperation for 3 to 5 years with one selected village, not just annual visits like now,” he explained.
This Village Development activity is a real manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in the aspect of community service. In addition to Barru, F.Kep Unhas has also implemented similar programs in several other areas such as Maros and Gowa in previous years.
The committee is very well prepared because it was prepared well in advance so that this activity is very mature “said the head of the health center” The Head of Gattareng Village welcomed the presence of the implementing committee and hoped that this activity could provide real benefits for the local community. Meanwhile, the health center is ready to collaborate to follow up on health findings obtained during the activity. With this Village Development program, it is hoped that it can increase public awareness and knowledge about health, as well as strengthen the relationship between higher education institutions and rural communities.
