Tamalanrea Jaya, December 19, 2024—An activity titled LESTARI in Parang Village: Preserving Ecosystems with Processed, Friendly, and Inclusive Waste was successfully held on Thursday, December 19, 2024. This event took place at the house of the Head of RT 002, Parang Village, Tamalanrea Jaya Urban Village, Tamalanrea District.

This activity was attended by the Head of RT 002 and the community of Parang Village, with the main focus on housewives. In addition, students from the Appropriate Technology Implementation Team were also present as companions in this activity.

The LESTARI program aims to increase public awareness of the importance of household waste management. On this occasion, participants were given direct training on making compost from household organic waste such as vegetable and fruit scraps.

The Head of RT 002 expressed his appreciation for this initiative. “We are very grateful for the presence of students who provide this valuable knowledge. It is hoped that in the future, housewives in Parang Village can utilize household waste more wisely to maintain environmental sustainability,” he said.

Students from the Appropriate Technology Implementation Team (ITTG) also provided practical demonstrations on simple composting techniques that can be applied in the home environment. In addition, participants were invited to discuss the long-term benefits of using compost, both for the environment and the family economy.

The LESTARI activity in Parang Village is expected to be the beginning of a more environmentally friendly and sustainable community movement. With the spirit of collaboration between the community and students, ecosystem preservation efforts can continue to be improved in the future.
